Measure Blast Impact

PT Dahana (Persero) conducted a training measure the impact of the explosion for two days in mid-January 2011.

This training is a refreshing measurement of the impact of blasting on the ground (ground vibration and blast water) held at Tasikmalaya Head Office. Training methods implemented in the form of discussion and practice associated with problems that occur in the field.

According to the Head of Energetic Materials Center (EMC) Pudji Suprapto, the event also aims to improve the skills, knowledge, and philosophy of the use of blastmate and minimate plus as a tools means of measuring vibration and noise due to impact of blasting on the ground. Invited guest speakers who are experts in vibration and noisis, Handoyo Marmer from Education & Training Technology Center for Oil, Gas & Mining, Bandung (PPTMB). Previously, in 2010, Handoyo Marmer have worked with the Head of Energetic Materials Center (EMC), Pudji Suprapto, to make the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 7571: 2010 on Standards of blasting vibration levels at the open mining activities to the building.

From the experience of that cooperation, Handoyo Marmer as presenters refresh and analyze the impact of blasting applications. Dahana who have a chance to add one new measure need an expert touch of blasting applications and the impact of blasting.

The participants were so enthusiastic to compare the results of theoretical estimates based on standard formulas with the results of applications in the field. From there, we found a variety of factors that led to several values of the vibration and noise which  are different. The cases are often found in the field and also the discussion session to share field experiences, both from presenters and personnel Dahana itself, so some of the solution can be solved together.

Field application of blasting practices held in Dahana’s bunker, Tasikmalaya. The method  tested using a blasting cartridge emulsion explosives by weight variation and delay on the detonator. The measurement system was divided into three groups, two groups using blasmate, one group using minimate plus. Although Blasmate III physically look more "gallant" but minimate plus has the same functions. The measurement results from both of the tool discussed and analyzed together.

It is expected that this training can enhance the core competence of personnel, improved services and satisfied customers.
