Dahana-BPPT Cooperation in Zone Nursery Development

Bandung, February 23, 2011 - PT Dahana (Persero) and The Agency For the Assessment and Application Technology (BPPT) signed a cooperative nursery zone project owned by PT Dahana (Persero) in Subang, West Java.

The signing ceremony of cooperation made by President Director of PT Dahana (Persero) Tanto Dirgantoro and Head of BPPT Dr. Marzan A. Iskandar, held at the Hotel Savoy Homann in Bandung on February 23, 2011.

In his speech, President Director of PT Dahana (Persero) Tanto Dirgantoro said that the development of nursery zone is aimed at developing national agro-industry and bring benefits to the entire community around the company. "This is in line with the mission DAHANA to implement programs and missions of government in accordance with business and corporate goals," said Tanto Dirgantoro.

Nursery zone built in Energetic Materials Center (EMC) area located in Subang, West Java. For this purpose, Dahana cooperation with BPPT to build, maintain, and develop the nursery in an area of 2 hectares.

It is time for every development project or company has the knowledge environment. In addition to government regulations, it is aimed so that no environmental damage. It is also under consideration PT Dahana (Persero) to build the Energetic Materials Center (EMC) project, the central research and development of high-energy materials in the area of Subang, West Java.

Although still in the process, the construction of EMC environmental project included in the DAHANA masterplan. In order to do this, land area or which are not covered by building will serve as the Vegetation Development Zone, namely by planting various kinds of plants or stands of trees and hardwood trees including rare trees such as sandalwood, agarwood, johar, flamboyant, trembesi and buddhi, and others.

Meanwhile, for the landscape, offices, housing, and office roads will be planted by ornamental plants and fruit trees. Overall, EMC area is almost reached 600 hectares. So is the area of vegetation, of course, would require lots amount of seed. For this purpose, in the EMC region's development, it has been include the establishment of Plant Zone (Nursery Zone), which is expected to meet the availability of seeds on their own.

In this nursery project, BPPT role through the provision of expertise and technology, while Dahana, which will be represented by Sumurbarang Management Unit, has prepared the provision of land, financing and technical operations, both treatments, seeding, seed treatment, until planting. Operational activities will involve casual workers from local communities.

As is known, PT Dahana (Persero) is a State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in strategic industries that provide integrated explosives services to the sector Oil and Gas, Mining, quarrying, and construction. Dahana has experienced more than 40 years and is supported by comprehensive facilities, the latest technology, and best human resources.
