Brief History

Dahana is mastering the technology of product and production.

The history of PT. Dahana was marked with the establishment of dynamite plant (NG based) in 1966 situated in the area of Tasikmalaya Air Force base. With the development of technology and market demand, Water Based Emulsion Technology, with a higher degree of safety, was tranfered in 1991 with the product of Cartridged Emulsion. DANFO plant was erected in the following year on Dahana’s own engineering capability.

Dahana focuses on the explosives and blasting services.
The eagerness to constantly develop and to be the best has encouraged Dahana to improve its operation quality. A joint operation in PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) since 1994 in collaboration with one of global firms was the first step of Dahana in entering the world of explosives application services. The success of this project has built a milestone for the sustainability of the following cooperation in other mining areas such as Central Kalimantan, Karimun and Sumbawa. The achievement reached so far is significantly important in placing Dahana’s identity in order to keep focused on the business of explosives services and its application as a core competence of the company.

Dahana is perceptive to the market development.
Oil and natural gas market has been a growing and ever challenging sector. One of the oil and natural gas exploration sectors is seismic survey in which the need of the explosives has been successfully fulfilled by Dayagel Seismic, Dahana’s own product. In the field of exploitation, particularly for ‘Oilwell Perforating’, Dahana has lucratively met the needs of Shaped Charges by self manufacturing in cooperation with COS (Chartered Oiltech Services), the factory of which has been operating since 1995. The granite quarry market on the island of Karimun grew rapidly and Dahana took the chance by establishing “On Site Bulk Emulsion plant” in 1998 which was the engineering work of Dahana.

In 1999 Dahana was awarded ISO 9002:1994 certificate of Quality Management System which was subsequently improved to ISO 9001:1994 in 2001. The enhancement attempt to gain ISO 9001:2000 system is being carried out. Since 1999, the 600 hectare land in Sumurbarang, Subang has been prepared for the establishment of the Explosives Industrial Centre as well as Engineering Centre for Explosives and Its Application, where up to the present Dahana has built facilities, infrastructure and some explosives magazines. The patent for the composition and production process of the Bulk Emulsion Explosives was gained in 2001. Several other patents as a result of technology development have been registered and the rights will be awarded soon. It proves that Dahana desires to serve the best every time.

What Dahana hopes in the future is to be the most excellent national industry in the field of energetic materials by providing high competitive and environmental friendly products and services. It will be accomplished through :

• Provision of commercial explosives and their application services for mining and construction sector.
• Encouragement of technology mastery capability and self-reliance through Human Resource quality development.
• Leadership in domestic market through strategic partnership with the customers as well as suppliers.
• Supporting the government’s program and mission which suit the company’s objectives and business field.
